Mike Smolenski
You have probably been here before. You can see your teenager struggling, but they do not know how to talk about it. And sometimes, neither do you. You are doing your best to help, but it still feels like that parenting handbook never showed up in the mail.
In my group, your teen will start to explore what they are feeling and learn how to cope with whatever challenges they are facing. Together, we work to build understanding, confidence, and a sense of control.
I’m Mike, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania. I have been providing therapy for nearly twenty-five years, and I love this work. I often joke that I am a bit of a unicorn in this field, as a man who works primarily with adolescents, but I truly believe that teens bring out the most authentic, honest, and hopeful parts of this job.
My approach combines elements of cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and trauma-informed care. More importantly, I use these tools to meet each person where they are and help them define their own goals for growth. Building a genuine relationship with every client is at the heart of my work, because trust and connection make real change possible.
I also bring humor into the process, because life is hard enough without the ability to laugh along the way. Therapy should feel real, human, and safe.
If this sounds like it could be the right fit for you or your teen, I would be honored to support you. Starting is often the hardest part, but I will be right here to help you take that first step.
