First, I’d like to invite you to give yourself a small pat on the back for taking the time to visit our website and listen to this recording. In my book, that’s a radical act of sanity. Acts like this are not distant or abstract. They live in everyday moments of awareness, kindness, and courage, the ones that remind us of our own wisdom and capacity for self-support. And right now, you’re demonstrating that.

My name is Charlie May, and I lead the adult mental health IOP program in North Wales for Sanare. I hold a master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from Bryn Mawr and have been running therapy groups for more than twenty years.

I draw from many approaches in my work, including Gestalt Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Schema Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, and EMDR, each offering a different way of helping us understand and reconnect with ourselves.

I don’t see the need for care as a sign of weakness. Too often, we accuse ourselves of being foolish, lazy, or broken, when in truth, there are valid reasons we lose touch with our strength and wisdom. My work is about helping people rediscover that connection, to know themselves fully and to live from that source.

In IOP, we meet you where you are and walk alongside you for a while. We treat the challenges you bring as trailheads rather than obstacles and explore what they have to teach. Along the way, we notice the small, radical acts of sanity and kindness that move you closer to balance and healing.
