Sophia Fokas

I’m Sophia Fokas, a master’s-level clinician with a degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from West Chester University in Pennsylvania. Before graduate school, I studied psychology at Temple University with minors in criminal justice and Spanish while working as a research assistant studying the developmental impacts of the juvenile justice system.

Through that experience, I became deeply interested in trauma and how early experiences shape the way we move through the world. That curiosity led me to grow as a trauma-informed clinician. I am now EMDR certified and previously led a trauma IOP program in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, before moving to Raleigh, North Carolina.

I have experience working with individuals ages fourteen and older in both group and individual settings. I believe that every person is unique, so I draw from a range of approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and EMDR. My goal is to tailor each session to meet your specific needs and to help you connect with the inner resources that already exist within you.

I take a wellness-focused approach to therapy, grounded in the belief that people are inherently capable of healing and growth. Together, we will create a safe space for self-exploration and discovery so that you can build confidence and move toward your goals.

Outside of work, I love spending time outdoors, reading a good mystery novel, and enjoying a great cup of coffee. I also love traveling, whether that means exploring a local hidden gem or visiting a new country and discovering its food and culture.
